The shape of the sign is a nod towards the great British railway and Victorian engineering with the illusion of it being indented like a metal plaque might be. The screws on this sign are part of the artwork and are not functional. This isn't to say however you can't use functional screws. If attaching to a wall or wood you can simply drill straight through where the fake screw heads are and the real screw should cover up the artwork.
